I had the same problem - could not log in after installing 18.04 with correct password, even after repeated re-installs, with minimal install, full install, update while installing, and every other combination.įinally, after re-starting, and having the log in screen displayed, I opened a terminal (ctrl alt F2) and logged in. In these modern days, doing manual partitioning is not necessary that much. Have you successfully installed previous Ubuntus on your computer? This is how I install Ubuntu generally: 20GB Primary partition as /, all of the rest free space as /home and click "Install". If you have 4GB RAM or more, then skip using /swap altogether.
